Sunrise Montessori School is an English/Mandarin bilingual Montessori school for children from infancy to kindergarten. We have committed to creating a learning environment to support the whole child’s growth and development. Sunrise Montessori School is on the path to seeking AMS accreditation.

The Early Childhood Lead Teacher will provide supervision over the classroom community of children ages 2 ½ to 6 years and students’ work, with a keen awareness of the functioning of the whole while also paying attention to individual and small group needs. Throughout the school year, the teacher will work with the Early Childhood Program Director to ensure that students have the necessary tools and time to devote themselves to their work, building a cohesive community and continuing to develop the love of learning.

This full-time academic year position starts August 28, 2023, with the hours of Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., with the flexibility to work on the occasional evening and weekend. 

Responsibilities

  • Possess keen awareness of the functioning of the whole while also paying attention to individual and small group needs.

  • Be committed to excellent communication with students, families, staff, and the rest of the school leadership team.

  • Possess experience teaching in a Montessori school setting with curriculum delivery that is age appropriate and elicits engaged student response.

  • Exhibit a high degree of organization and attention to detail.

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of current human development and learning research in support of the Montessori educational approach.

  • Contribute positively to the school community beyond the job-specific tasks, including active cross-level collaboration with a can-do attitude.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; master’s degree is preferable.

  • MACTE accredited Early Childhood Certification required; AMS Certificate preferred.

  • Three years of teaching experience as the Lead in an Early Childhood classroom

  • Understanding of and commitment to Montessori Philosophy

  • Commitment to professional development and best practices in education

  • Commitment to meeting the needs of each student.

  • Commitment to be calm and positive all the time in the classroom.

  • MA EEC teacher certification preferred but not required.

  • CPR/First Aid Certification required

Salary/Benefits

  • Salary range is $45,000 - $60,000 per year, dependent on education, training, and experience.
